Mark Hurd’s Latest LinkedIn Influencer Blog
Oracle President Mark Hurd has posted his latest LinkedIn Influencer blog, “How CEOs Can Transform HR into Revenue Drivers.”  In this latest blog, Mark writes, “In many companies, a lack of CEO-level support for the HR organization and its mission keeps the HR team walled off from the ultimate sources of value in a company—revenue generation and customer engagement. This prevents HR executives from joining the rest of the company in using modern technology to gain new insights, make data-driven decisions, and engage with employees and customers more intimately and productively.”  Read this blog to learn how to retain and find top talent.

Storage

A new breed of drives is on the way, the helium drive. According to this article at Foxnews the main challenge was keeping the helium sealed inside the drives. Why do I picture a scene in the future in which a storage admin person comes running into the front office and says in full Mickey Mouse tremulo: Helium leak in the server room! Mayday! Mayday!

….And Finally

ZDNet tells us about something pretty exciting: Progress through processors: Intel's new Facebook app. I signed up right away (on Mac remember to download the app and watch performance, you may need to tone down its usage a bit to keep from overworking the system). This app lets researchers use the computing power of your unused cycles on your computer(s) to process things like malaria research and molecular mapping.

And for those who love the great outdoors, yes, you can use a camp fire to charge your cell phone: Cool Hunting PowerPot by Power Practical: Boil water and charge your devices at the same time with this mobile thermoelectric generator. That way if a bear comes up on you suddenly you can say: ‘Can you hold on? I have to take this call.’
